Nipmuc Trail Woods and Big Oak Woods

Nipmuc Trail Woods, accessed from Brookside Road, is a 2.2-acre parcel with a mix of woodlands and wetland habitat with a stream. The historic Nipmuc Trail once ran through the property. The property connects to SOLF’s Big Oak Woods.

Big Oak Woods, accessed from Darlene Drive, is a 14.3-acre parcel with a mix of woodlands and wetland habitat with a stream. There is a steep grade down from the entrance. The woodlands contain notable large oak trees. The property connects to SOLF’s Nipmuc Trail Woods.

There are no trails on these properties. There is some wetland to negotiate down the hill from the Big Oak Woods entrance on Darlene Drive. There is a stream that needs to be crossed close to the Nipmuc entrance on Brookside Road. In between, there are sections of beautiful woodland habitat, with large oak trees, birch, and pine.
